The Last Ocean is an interactive light environment created by Jen Lewin. It is composed of a sea of interactive, wireless, waterproof light platforms that span over a quarter of a mile. By entering The Ocean, you enter a world where play and collaborative movement create a cascading effect of swirling light and color.
Jen Lewin is working with the Colorado Ocean Coalition to create this new interactive sculpture. Together their hope is that The Ocean can travel around the world raising awareness and engaging viewers in ocean advocacy.
Interaction:
At night The Ocean will glow blue. Each of The Ocean’s ice platforms will sense user movement and position. By walking over and through the ice, you will create swirls of white and blue light in your wake.
During the day, The Ocean will reflect the existing sky. Each ice platform is created from highly resilient fiberglass, embedded LEDS and a durable reflective (mirror coating.) Viewers will experience the sensation of walking over a sea of blue glass.
